In her autobiographic novel Lara Andriessen
describes the abuse of her father, the mistreatment
of her mother, and the blindness and helplessness of her social environment.
    Born in Berlin as the daughter of a policeman, she is at the mercy of her father from the very beginning, as he begins to abuse her when she is about one year old. Her father puts her under pressure to keep the secret. Lara flees, lives in the street, is sent to an approval school, escapes, takes drugs, and is caught by the police who send her home again. She becomes pregnant from her father and tries to commit suicide.
    In the end she succeeds in finding a way out of the terrible situation.

A shocking true story – brilliantly written. A book nobody should miss who wants to know more about the reality of sexual abuse.
