Viktoria Engel´s true story depicts her married life
with a husband hooked on alcohol. She is totally
dependent on him, gets five children (including twins – after the unsuccessful sterilization of her husband), and has to do all the household chores and the hard work on the farm where she lives together with her ghastly parents-in-law in the same house.
Nevertheless she succeeds in breaking down all the barriers that have so long kept her from starting a new life. She finally gets divorced, finds a job and begins an independent life.
