Author: Else Wiegard
About the author:
Else Wiegard worked as a nurse for children. After ten years as a nun she fell in love with a man who was addicted to alcohol and whom she wanted to save from his addiction. She was given permission to leave the monastery, married this man and got five children. Her last pregnancy resulted in the birth of twins, one of whom was Karin, the girl suffering from down syndrome whose story is told in this book. Else Wiegard published another book (“Ich glaubte, es sei Liebe” = “I Thought it was Love”) about her time in the monastery and about her decision to put an end to this episode of her life. This book has also become a great success.
