Mariella, suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, consults an
African healer who aks her to interpret the fairy tale `The Six Swans´. With the help of her maid, Mariella succeeds in gradually recognizing that all the different figures in this fairy tale are aspects of her soul. The study of the tale and the interpretation of the characters and their interaction as well as the hidden symbolism of the fairy tale push open a door to a new understanding of the true nature and meaning of her illness.
